In summer 2014 I spent three weeks volunteering at a vervet monkey rehabilitation and conservation haven, in Vryhied, Kwa-Zulu Natal, South Africa. Whilst I was there I became consumed in photographing the delicate detail of their ever so human like hands, which I felt reflected the personalities I had grown to understand.
With themes of juxtaposition these images can provoke moral uncertainty. They aren't meant to emphasis the fact of captivity and its negative connotations, but portray simple content in rehabilitation and the calm nature these animals aren't known for in Africa.
Huge thank you to the devoted owners of W.A.T.C.H for giving me the opportunity to take these photos
